The Volturi have fallen.
Two years ago the Volturi received a notice that something big was going on that needed to be taken care of. The person that was there was believable and the Volturi sent out a handful of guards, including the twins, to deal with the threat. As soon as they were far enough away the trap was sprung and suddenly the Volturi were in a fight of their lives. Within hours everyone in the castle was burned to ashes and a new Coven calling themselves the Pure Ones stepped forward.
The news was quick to spread that the world had a new vampire coven ruling them and that they planned to stay. Destroying most of the castle and leaving the ruins there to burn, they left. The handful of guard members that returned to the castle after hearing the news separated. Now as the new coven starts to expand their territory the question remains who will stand up to them?
