Appearance: Typical to her race, Daeva looks like a cross between the Earthling "Human" and "Feline." The fur on her body is short and light brown with white face and underbelly. She has dark brown eyes, and markings on her body of the same color, including the tip of her tail. Her ‘mane’ or hair is long, almost down to the base of her tail, and slightly darker than the rest of her body.
Personality: Daeva is feisty, and often gets into verbal spats because of her grasp of the English language… or lack thereof. She may have a feisty personality, but like many of her kind, is lazy during the day.
History: Daeva was born on her home planet of Valeur, learning the Alter ways as she grew. Upon the age of 15, she became what her people believed to be an Adult Female. Having finished her species’ form of puberty she took a job among her Clan, working with small machinery.
Years later, her home would be discovered by the exploration ship Orion. Orion was mainly made up of a Human crew, many of whom took a "liking" to the women of her kind. As the Alter had never heard of space travel or the Intergalactic Organization, they were easy to trick. Not long after they came, the Orion left with nearly 200 of the Alter women, Daeva included. Many of the Orion crew kept one or two for themselves, but most were sold on the black market to the highest bidder.
Slavery was illegal on the IO planets, but there were plenty of ways around that. For example, ships flying in free space weren’t under the direct control of the Organization. And it appeared nobody had bothered to inform the IO that there was an intelligent species on Valeur until nearly a year after the Orion had absconded with their women. Daeva became a sex slave to a man named Gordon. She spent two years as his property, and upon realizing she had just passed her 23rd year, she killed him in front of the crew.
She had intended to set an example to the other Humans that her people were not so helpless. What she did not realize was that, although her people didn't see this type of killing as a crime, the Humans did. She was detained and thrown into a cell until they were able to get rid of her.
Less than half a year later, she found herself boarding this ship. Who wouldn’t sign up for a free pass out of jail? Even if they crashed and burned it would be better than time spent in prison. Her former job working with machinery qualified her to work as a mechanic.
