Name of Race: Alter
Name of Home Planet: Valeur
Description of Planet: Valeur is a far off cousin of Earth. With a dense O-zone layer and a multitude more -sphere layers around it, a Valeurian being must have developed muscles. The planet also differs from Earth due to it's abundance of water. Where as Earth is mostly water, Valeur is almost all water, with large islands not much bigger than the Earth Country Australia. Most of the creatures that thrive on this planet have mutated to be able to breathe both under and above the water.
Description of Race: The Alter are the most advanced of the Valeurian creatures mentally, but physically are behind. Unable to breathe under water, the Alter are at quite the disadvantage. Being a small Race, numbering close to the 5000 mark, they must be quick witted and agile to keep from falling prey to predatory species. They live above the land in makeshift tree houses, which they call Loca. Most Alter fill their home with personal effects such as Humans on Earth would. Although living in what Human's would call primitive huts in their trees, the Alter disguise their technology incredibly well. Alter value family and tradition, but strive to overcome their enemies and improve their skills. The Alter believe in recreation, but not in a particular God or Goddess. Upon one's death, the Alter's mind will be free from their worldly limitations. They believe that the Alter will learn all, then put it from their minds to become another creature for another life.
Alter are described by Human explorers as Feline in appearance. While in reality, they only share their fur and ears with the Earthling Felines. They are mostly humanoid. Although it has not been tested, the Alter believe that, given the change, Human and Alter can procreate together. Being Feline and Human hybrids of sorts, the Alter eat most foods. On their planet they stick to the edible plants that hold nutrition for their kind, and the few water-animals that they can digest. Most Human foods are more than perfect for an Alter. It's also been noted by certain Human explorers that the "Cat Treats" found in a typical Earth Pet Store and the "Cat Nip" plant found on Earth's surface are loved by these creatures.
History of Planet/Race: Alter only recently started taking down their histories, so much of their past is lost. What we do know we have learned by word of mouth. And that is limited more so by their newness to the English language. What we gather is this: Their race was once water-breathers. But they adapted and became only air-breathers. Now they are land-hunters and never go too deep into the oceans.
