I thought that their could be a training room...

So guards and crew can work on things they want to and convicts who need or feel they need to train themeselves can do it there...and be watched. Eg my girl nix could work on her shadow training and the guards would watch her do it as she's a convict still and not truly trusted/trustworthy. Then the guards and crew would work on their own training and not need to be watched over as they are trusted where as convicts aren't...

Also I means that all different types of people would be brought together and atop that, some of the races that need certain things to survive could work on it there, eg my girl nix needs to use her shadows after a while or she goes rather power mad and other races could use it for climbing or racing or other things they would normally so on their home planets.

It is a good idea, buuuut... the Common Area includes an exercise area! I think that counts as a training area, and I assume the guards would wander around there as they do anywhere else in the ship.
