Name: Veria Evangeline Holt
Race: Human
Gender Female
Rank/Position: Captain
Appearance:
Veria is quite short at 5’3”. She is solidly built at 135 pounds, with wide hips, large breasts, and muscular legs. Her face is round but not chubby in the slightest, and her high, wide cheekbones slant beneath catlike green eyes. Her short, narrow nose, long eyes, and pursed mouth gives her the appearance of a constant smirk, though some interpret it as seductive. She manages to project an aura of authority, or perhaps simply bossiness, even with her small stature. Her voice is clear and loud, cutting through a noisy room with ease. She stands perfectly straight, usually wearing heels to give her some more height, and her square shoulders convey a no-nonsense manner. As for her clothing, she usually chooses to wear the shirt and tight skirt with heels, the shirt partially unzipped to give everyone a view of the décolletage… whether they like it or not. She rarely wears anything other than her uniform, but she has a few items of her own clothing to wear on special occasions. Usually quite revealing. She’s not one of those girls who doesn’t pay attention to appearance and just happens to be gorgeous no matter what. Veria knows what she has and what she doesn’t, and works it up for all she’s got.
Personality: As a Captain, Veria is far from the best. She’s achieved B-Rank but doesn’t really deserve it. Her parents were the only reason for her getting that far. Veria gets her way by alternately whining and playing cute. People usually do things for her, whether it’s because she manipulates them into it or because of her parents’ influence. She’s used to doing next to nothing for herself. She relies on her more skilled crew members to do all the work, while she stands around being authoritative. However, she’s not a bad person, just lazy, manipulative, and spoiled rotten. She’s generally friendly, if a little bossy, and she’s usually quite generous and willing to help out someone who needs it. She can be jealous but she’s not catty, and she has a lot of love-hate friends and romances.
History: Veria and her younger brother, Serth, were the children of renowned AA-Rank Captain Bantan Holt and billionaire Rhenna Doubtworth. Veria spent most of her early and teen years with no aspirations. She lived off of her parents’ wealth, never even holding down a part-time job. Her grades were average, and she was of average intelligence. Finally when she had graduated high school and done nothing for two years, and her brother had found (or been bought) a job at the head of a company, her parents began to nag her about what she wanted to do with her life. When Veria first said she wanted to be a Captain, she was joking, but since she’d never suggested anything else, her parents latched on to this and enrolled her in the Academy at once. Veria was highly unenthusiastic, but her driving need to be good at things caused her to take to it a bit more. She was still only an average student, but her parents took care of things to hustle her along, skipping many of the steps to get her to her present status.
She has many ‘superficial’ friends on Earth, rich girls like her who spend their days shopping and talking about inanities. She has one or two ‘best’ friends who she actually tells next to everything, but she chooses these wisely, because she’s been betrayed in the past.
The Organization finds Veria extremely annoying. They don’t take kindly to bending of the rules or taking the easy way out, and in Veria’s case, that’s all she’s done all her life. None of the higher-ups think this mission has a chance. If Veria takes them all out and gets them caught in a black hole, well, sure it would be tragic, but in the end nothing of value was lost. Except maybe the ship itself. And if they go, achieve nothing, and come back, then they’ll be in disgrace and they can get them out of their hair anyway. And if, by some small chance, they go to L-0244, make important discoveries, start a colony, and come back, then the Organization’s reputation will go up. An all-win situation indeed.
